Urban Renewal

We designed the Sun Prairie, Monarch on Main, project as a dynamic catalyst for revitalization in downtown Sun Prairie. Located at the corner of Main Street and Bristol Street, the four-story mixed-use development includes 92 thoughtfully designed apartments and over 11,000 SF of amenity and retail space. The site combines three parcels totaling 1.44 acres.

To address the 8-foot grade change across the property, we integrated a lower-level parking garage accessed from Lane Street. At the same time, we maintained an active street-level presence along Main Street. The ground floor includes amenities and retail spaces that activate the streetscape and create shared value for both residents and the broader community.

The upper residential levels offer a mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom units. Each includes private balconies and in-unit laundry. We balanced a modern aesthetic with contextual sensitivity through the building’s massing, materials, and detailing. Features include a masonry base, stepped-back upper levels, and articulated façades that reflect the scale and character of downtown.

As part of a larger vision aligned with the Sun Prairie Stronger Plan, we developed a future Phase II concept. This includes a public parking garage and rooftop plaza, adding flexible green space, gathering areas, and room for community events. Together, these elements reinforce our design goal: to create a lively, inclusive destination that supports housing needs and strengthens the identity of downtown Sun Prairie.
