Bright Transformation
When our client needed to expand but was limited to a dark, windowless lower-level shell space, we saw an opportunity to transform the area into a vibrant and functional office environment. We took advantage of the 18-foot floor-to-floor height by incorporating a raised access floor and exposing the ceiling structure. This approach allowed us to create a spacious and flexible layout.
To address the absence of natural daylight, we implemented creative lighting strategies. These included wall-grazing fixtures along perimeter rooms and full-height glass partitions to help distribute light throughout the space. We also layered LED lighting solutions and added decorative pendant fixtures to enhance both task-specific and ambient illumination.
With no exterior views available, we introduced artistic design elements to energize the interior and establish a sense of nature. These features included 3-Form ceiling and wall panels, custom digital wallcoverings, and a living plant wall.

Understanding the client’s desire for a more agile and amenity-rich culture, we reimagined their office layout. Private offices were reduced in size to make room for a variety of flexible workspaces, including focus booths for concentrated tasks, enclaves for semi-private meetings, and reservable offices-for-a-day for leadership. We also designed several key amenities. These included dedicated nursing rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness center with group classes, and a café providing lunch daily.
Through innovative use of materials, lighting, and spatial planning, we transformed a previously underutilized basement shell into an energized, adaptable workplace—enhancing both employee satisfaction and productivity.
